*My Dearest Beloved*

My Dearest Beloved
Again I waited for you last night
But you still did not come
I wonder if breath still sustains you
Or if another has captured your heart
But still I write this letter to you
Hoping it will find you soon
To remind you how much
I love you and miss you and need you
Return to me
My love, my beloved

Memories of us, creep into my thoughts
Of how we laughed and played
With flowers in my hair
And how we danced barefoot in
In our green meadow until
The sun rested on the horizon

Or when we laid in the cool grass
As you held me close
With my head on your chest
I listened to your heartbeat and breaths
Strike perfect chords
As cloud watching turned to star gazing

Or when the world just left us
You and I
In our moonlit meadow
Where our souls touched
Under a thousand shimmering witnesses
Blushing at our sight

I remembered those summer nights
When we stayed all night in our meadow
And hoped time would forget us
You held me tight to keep me warm
As the grass turned damp with dew
And we watched our stars slowly fade

That glorious summer
Is one we will remember
For the rest of our life
Where we lived for each other
And love was in its truest form
Love is what connects me to you
And so I write this letter
Hoping one day
You'll return to me
For I loved you then as I do now
My love, my beloved
