Movie Review: Collateral/The Punisher

this weekend i decided not to go to the theaters......i stayed home and went through my bros dvd collection and watched COLLATERAL and THE PUNISHER......

first of all COLLATERAL overall was an alright movie......it could have been better......for example having jason statham play vincent......that would have been cool......it broke the rule that everyone in the film is important......meaning, if there's an actor/character with a speaking part, there's a reason for them to be in the movie......there's a reason they didn't get edited out......and having statham in the beginning of the movie and no where else baffled me......why did they give him a line instead of just a normal slick bag exchange????......cruise's performance could have been better......his "costume" the big grey hair was not the best costume......on the subway, he did have a fierceness in his eyes and that's the only time that i could see him as a cold blooded assasin......but other than that.....it wasn't the best cruise performance......foxx's performance was interesting......during the club scene where he's meeting the drug lord, he's shaky just like someone who really scared, studdering and whatnot......then out of nowhere his character max gets a boost of confidence in order to convince the head boss he's an assasin......now that's impressive......for foxx to go from a scared taxi driver to the hero by the end of the movie.......again, i believe it could have been better......but it wasn't downright terrible

now THE PUNISHER.......this was terribly made.......true it's based on a marvel comic so the story is a little far fetched but this was just way over the top......to imagine that his guy lived through everthing without having any "super powers" or none that he showed was a big stretch......another thing that made me wonder was about his financing......okay, he's presumed dead.....so he doesn't have any access to funds (so i believe), yet he managed to get back into the states from puerto rico, find a place to stay and build himself a car which looks like it required a lot of expensive parts......the only part that i thought was cool was the fire scene at the end of the movie, kinda like THE CROW but instead it's a fire of the punisher skull......travolta wasn't too impressive either......he lacked evil......for being a bad guy, he wasn't that villanious......so what he killed his best friend and his wife?????.....it wasn't because is was cold hearted or villianous, it was a crime of passion.....not coldhearted like most bad guys......wouldn't recommend this movie.......it was pretty tame for a marvel comic movie and i think a good punisher would have been jason statham......so what if i think statham should be in everything?????.....lol.....i just think he could have done a better job and make the movie more interesting
