Where to Move?

so i'm getting laid off....

and everything is up in the air....we don't know when we're closing....and i don't know what i want to do afterward....

so i figured....what da hell....lets look at some current market rates out there to see what i would get in regard to the cost of living outside of salt lake city....

well, first of all....salt lake city sucks when it comes to market value....average person makes 30K a year....companies justify paying low wages in salt lake due to the cost of living....bah!....i DOUBT anyone has looked at that in ages....

nonetheless, i calculated a "guess-timate" using http://www.bankrate.com/brm/movecalc.asp to see how much i would need to make, compared to the average rate in salt lake city, in order to "maintain my standard of living".....

first, phoenix.....pheonix is where i would move if i were to go where my job is.....it says:

well that's nice to know that the market rate in Phoenix is HIGHER than Salt Lake yet it is CHEAPER to operate there....bah!....even though Phoenix had a huge dust storm last week that caused major power outages which could have affected the Glendale call center....

i like were addy lives....she actually lives 20 minutes south of Pittsburgh....the houses there are HUGE....and the area out there is really nice....except the two times i was there, there wasn't much sun.....but i could consider living out there....

well, of couse, if i did addy's place....i'd have to do steph's place....although i've been to dayton only once....it was still a lovely area.....especially the back corn fields, late at night, with no signs of life....lol....that was scary, yet intriguing....all that was missing was the UFO creating a crop circle.....

i just did byran's place just for kicks.....i'll be visitng that location next month....i'm sure it can't be the "armpit of america" as bryan describes it....but i guess we'll have to see....

i did seattle because holland america cruise lines is hiring and the job is in seattle....even though i would love to visit....i'm not sure about living there....i hear rumors that it's kinda dirty and congested....maybe i'll have to visit there first before actually moving there.....

i love vegas....i mean i love visting, but i'm not sure about living....although i will consider it....i found it odd that it's cheaper to live in vegas than it does seattle....besides, i guess when amanda, delise and i go to vegas next week, delise and i are going to check out some jobs....i wouldn't mind it....it's closer than phoenix....and there will be tons of tourism jobs out there......

i did this one for kicks too....i know that new york city has a very high market rate.....but i wanted to see HOW high....wowsers....better leave new york on the "places-to-visit-not-live" list....i do wanna go back and visit....i absolutely LOVED the greyline hop-on-hop-off tour.....and there was so much i wasn't able to do....

this is another example of DUH on the part of AAA....obviously AAA could close the center in Livermore and pay people less in Draper AND Glendale....instead, Livermore is still open, making 78.62% more than Draper....their explanation???....we NEED livermore open....another translation???....we NEED higher costs.....idiots....i mean the only thing keeping Livermore open vs Draper is severance packages and the amount of the employees......Draper=50....Livermore=300....i bet they were hoping to scare Livermore employees into quitting or transferring so when their time comes, there wouldn't be that many employees....well, it's working.....
