hmmm......part 3

.....continued from friday, may 20

so i get into the vp of administration's office.....he tells me to take a seat and then closes the door.....i'm getting the feeling that he's going to tell me something big......so i take a seat......anxious to hear what he's going to say......and the first thing he says with a smile is, "we're not letting you go"......and goes on and on how he just got off the phone with the CEO who just got off the phone with the director in atlanta......and it comes down to the fact that the CEO had a change of heart after talking to the director in atlanta.......i have no freaking idea what the director said to the CEO......but it made the CEO change his mind.......

anyway......the vp went on to say that we're still leaving the building and that we're still closing down the travel agency......but he wants me to transfer to another location in the city with him......it would be just us two in a small office located about 15 minutes away from our current office......he went on to say that the director in atlanta didn't want to see me go......and he didn't want to see me go......and basically they're going to find a way to keep me......now in this move, he also mentioned that since i won't be doing travel agent stuff......that i'd be used in another aspect......basically assisting him with the accounting and doing charter stuff......it'll be a whole other job than what i've been doing......but i would still be with the company......

we continued talking and he apologized for the way my boss (the vp of marketing) handled things with me......like telling me i was laid off right before lunch.....in the middle of my shift......and what not.....he showed me the floor plans and told me that he's happy that i will still be with the company......

my feelings were torn at this point......i didn't know whether to be happy that i still had a job with the company......or if i should be upset because of the way they handled things......like how do you continue to work for a company who was willing to throw you away one day, and then the very next day say, "oh....just kidding, we're not going to fire you"????......i mean what's going to make them NOT do that again????.......

anyway......still torn about everything going on with my company......i get back to my desk and see that i have a new voicemail on my phone.......i check it and it's the department head of travel and tourism from my college......she had called me back to tell me that she's gotten me an interview at a worldwide travel agency......and that she wanted me to send over my resume......she also said that this travel agency would be perfect for me and that they would be thrilled to have me......all i needed to do was send over a resume to make the interview official.....
now conflicted with obligation and loyalty, i didn't know what to do......should i stay with my company because obviously the director vouched for me????......or should i leave and go to this other company because the department head vouched for me????......so i decided to sleep on it and not to worry to much about it til monday......

so i continued on with the work day.......finishing up my commissions report......deleting unnecessary files and what nots......talking to the vp's about decisions that need to be made......

after work as i was driving home.....i was gridlocked and facing the setting sun......i was getting hot and there was no breeze.......so i decided to turn on the air conditioning......where i heard this *snap*.......didn't think much on it......but then i started to notice the air coming out of the vents wasn't getting cold......i looked at the controls and everything was on cool.......checked out the dash to make sure my car wasn't flashing lights telling me something was wrong......and nothing......so i decided that it was broken and i would get it fixed later and not to worry about it......i mean i've already got other stuff to think about......but when i tried to make a hard lane change.....i realized the problem was more serious because now my steering wouldn't move......i was like "crap".......and stopped there.......didn't dare to say out loud "what else could go wrong" because lately the powers that be have been pretty humorous when it came to me......

so i'm driving home.......literally forcing my steering wheel to make the curves and turns i needed to get home safely.....and then finally looking under the hood......i saw that there was no belt that makes the power steering and air conditioning work......and that my brother's mechanic friends can't fix it because they need certain "metric" tools......whatever that means.......

*sighs*.......and that concludes my story for last week

in a nutshell......i got fired......watched star wars episode 3......then rehired......and then my car broke.....

and that's not including anything that happened THIS week......
