Movie Review: The Jacket

well last night erin called and wanted to go see a movie......she's been dying to see THE JACKET.......i told her that a friend of mine (anya) said THE JACKET wasn't that great and i wasn't interested in seeing it.......but she insisted......and hates going to movies by herself......so i made a deal with her to pay for me.....and then i'll get the movie next time.......

so i went and saw THE JACKET......it's about a soldier, jack starks (adrien brody) who was in desert storm who gets shot in the head.......he was pronounced dead in the military hospital, but miraculously survives and is discharged with amnesia......a year after he's discharged stark's walking down a road and sees a mother and daugher (later played by keira knightly) off to the side of the road in distress......he befriends the daughter and fixes their car.......the daughter, jackie, sees his dog tags and asks if she can have them, and starks gives them to her......well the movie progresses to the where he's accused of killing a cop......he has no memory of the incident and military personell testify that because of his injury sustained in the war, he can't be held accountable.......stark's is then sentenced to an insane asylum for the criminally insane where he is a guinea pig for dr becker (kris kristopherson) to try experiemental drugs.......he's taken to the basement, placed in a straight jacket, loaded with drugs and then locked in a morge drawer.......the affects of this treatment allows him to travel 15 years into the future......where he encounters a grown up jackie......he finds out that he's going to die in 7 days and wants to find out how he died.......and that's the gist of the movie i went into the movie with low expectations......it's been averaging a "C" rating from critics, so i wasn't expecting much.......and i was pleasantly surprised.......though i think the movie could have been made better.......it was decent......THE JACKET seemed it was showing what can happen when you put someone through sensory depervation hyped up with drugs.......the movie also brought back memories of THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT.......i probably would watch this movie again......but most likely on dvd.......
